Maintaining a Foundation

Is soil drying out during the summer and into the fall months of the year can cause foundation damage. The best way to deal with this is to avoid it completely. Using a soaker hose between two and three feet away from the base of the foundation right at the end of the rainy season will keep the soil moist. It is a bad idea to wait until the soil is visibly dry and cracking, as this means the soil is already dry and the damage may already be done. Depending on when the dry season is, you should begin accordingly.
